ABOUT THE COMPETITION
We are thrilled to invite storytellers from around the world to participate in the International Storytelling Competition 2024. This exciting event will be held from October 5th to October 19th, 2024. organized by Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Kediri, Indonesia in cooperation with International organization and institution as part of “Tarbiyah Fantastic Moment” celebrations aiming to harness students’ potential in the art of storytelling, enhance their proficiency in English, and cultivate an appreciation for inspirational narrative stories
The International Storytelling Competition is a platform for creative minds to come together and share their unique stories, perspectives, and cultural narratives. We believe that storytelling is a powerful tool for bridging cultures, fostering understanding, and inspiring others. This competition is open to participants of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities, providing a truly global stage for everyone who loves the art of storytelling.
WHY PARTICIPATE?
- Showcase Your Talent: Share your storytelling skills and cultural heritage with a diverse audience.
- Cultural Exchange: Engage with storytellers from different countries and backgrounds, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation.
- Awards and Recognition: Compete for prestigious awards and gain recognition on an international stage.
- Workshops and Mentorship: Participate in workshops and mentorship sessions conducted by renowned storytellers and literary experts.
ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANT
- Active students of one of Higher Education (University / Institution) from all over countries.
- Active students’ intake 2022/2023/2024.
- Each participant is required to register through the form provided by the organizing committee
COMPETITION THEME
The story must have educational and inspirational value, and must not contain elements of ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup issues, pornography, or violence. Please select one of the following topics:
- Climate Change and Environmental Issues: Narratives focusing on environmental issues, sustainability, and the impact of climate change.
- Technology and Its Impact: Exploring themes related to the digital age, including the influence of technology on human relationships, privacy, and identity.
- Historical and Cultural Reflections and Future Visions: Exploring historical and cultural events or future predictions and their impact on society.
GROUNDRULES
- The story must be delivered in English.
- The story duration is limited to a maximum of 10 minutes.
- Participants are highly encouraged to use props and costumes to enhance their performance (creativity).
- Video must attach logo of IAIN Kediri and logo of Fantastic Tarbiyah Moment bit.ly/LOGOPICTURE Please use your complete name as the rename file
SCORING CRITERIA
a. Content Mastery
The participant’s ability to effectively master and deliver the story.
b. Creativity
Innovation in storytelling, including the use of props and costumes and the quality of the video.
c. Language Proficiency
Pronunciation, intonation, and fluency in English.
d. Performance
Expression and Gesture. The participant’s skill in using facial expressions and body movements to enhance the story. The general appeal and entertainment value of the performance.
JUDGING PANEL
- The judging panel will consist of faculty members, English lecturers, and experts in the fields of English language and storytelling from Indonesia and United States of America (USA)
- The decisions of the judging panel are final and cannot be contested.
- The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify participants who violate the competition rules
IMPORTANT DATES
Registration is open : 1 – 30 September
Video submission : October 5 (Submit video to this link . Form will be opened only at October 5 (Click Here)
Final announcement : October 6 (Announcing top 6 to be finalist)
Technical Meeting : October 9 (for finalist: link of the zoom to beinformed)
Final stage : October 17 (the top 6 will have a real time zoom performance)
Winner Announcement : October 18 (through Instagram)
Winner Awards : October 19
PRIZES AND AWARDS
Winners in each category will receive:
- 1st Place Prize: US$ 150
- 2nd Place Prize: US$ 125
- 3rd Place Prize: US$ 80
- 4th Place Prize: US$ 60
- 5th Place Prize: US$ 40
- All Participants will receive e-certificate of appreciation.
